Betknowmore UK are delighted to have secured a grant from the National Lottery to ensure its vital services for women affected by gambling harms continue to develop.
In January 2021, Betknowmore UK embarked on a research project titled "Treatment and Support Services for Women Experiencing Gambling Harms: What Women Get and What Women Want." The project delved into the accessibility and effectiveness of existing support and treatment services for women impacted by gambling harms. With the involvement of women with lived experience, our goal was to pinpoint the crucial components needed to seek and support more women in overcoming gambling-related challenges. You can read the report here.
Today, we are proud to offer small cohorts of women a structured 10-week programme consisting of peer support sessions and weekly health and wellbeing groups under the banner of "New Beginnings." Over the course of 13 cohorts, we have witnessed positive attendance rates and tangible evidence of the transformative impact that New Beginnings has had on the lives and recoveries of women.
In our ongoing pursuit of innovative solutions to enhance the lives of our service users and women nationwide, we are pleased to have secured a grant from the Reaching Communities England fund. This allows us to expand our service and provide tailored support for women and affected others until 2026.
New Beginnings Service Lead Sue Cox said, “We want to thank the Reaching Communities England team for their support in making this expansion possible. Our aim is to make a lasting difference to the lives of women affected by gambling harms across the country.”
At Betknowmore UK, we remain committed to empowering individuals, fostering recovery, and championing positive change within our communities. Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting new chapter of growth and support.
