Leading UK charity Betknowmore UK are delighted to announce the launch of season two of their podcast series New Beginnings, exploring the often-ignored women’s perspective of gambling harms, with a new host.

LBC presenter and mental health campaigner Natasha Devon, is the new host of this eight-episode series, alongside co-host and New Beginnings Lead Facilitator Lisa Walker, with a new episode available every Thursday from 13 February on the charity’s Youtube channel here and all leading platforms, including Amazon, Apple and Spotify.

Topics covered in the latest series include race, drugs, homelessness, motherhood, and how to speak to your employer if you are experiencing gambling harms.

The show continues to build on research conducted by Betknowmore UK in 2021 which looked at how approachable, accessible, and effective women find current support and treatment services, with guests sharing their lived experiences of gambling harm and their stories of recovery, including advice on how to spot the signs of harm and where to access help and support.

Natasha Devon, who is due to cover the topic of women and gambling during her LBC show on Saturday 15 February between 6 and 8pm, said, “Hosting this podcast has completely transformed the way I see gambling harm and society’s attitudes towards it.

“It was an honour that the guests chose to share their stories with me so candidly and I hope the pod is shared far and wide to educate as many people as possible.”

Lisa Walker, who herself had a 16-year battle with gambling harms and initially struggled to get the support she needed before finding a secure place in her recovery, said, “I am so proud of all of the women involved in this podcast series, being open and honest about their experiences.

“It is so important to get the message out there and help women realise they are not alone.”
